2002 Season - Pre Season Guide

Draft Day

I’m sure you’ve made a big note on the calendar that the 2002 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft will take place on Saturday evening August 31st from 7pm at BUMS HQ. So in 4 weeks time your team capable of lifting the Papas Fritas Trophy or earning promotion from the Conference will be firmly in place. Attached is the player price spreadsheet which also includes all players 2001 scores and how much a Franchise player will cost you if he is cut by his current owner. Remember if you cut your franchise player you still have to pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. This year a number of top scorers have be come available as Marshall Faulk, Edgerrin James, Stephen Davis, Kurt Warner and Peyton Manning have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with 23 rookies (see rookie report attached). Draft Order and Franchise Players John Botten will have he first pick in the draft and Marcus will have the 100th and final choice. The full draft order and franchise players is attached. Trading Days As with previous years if you make a complete hash of your draft you will have two opportunities to put things right. Trading Day 1 will be after week 4 on Saturday October 5th and Trading Day will be after week 10 on Saturday November 16th. One person who will be looking forward to Trading Day 1 is Cheryl whose Franchise QB Elvis Grbac has retired during the off-season. Other noticeable absentee's from the player pool include Cris Carter (retired) and Ricky Watters and Antonio Freeman who are both unsigned free agents. If these payers are signed and score during the first month they will be available for selection on October 5th.
